This project is titled the Original Perfection. The inspiration for the work originated from Tibetan Buddhism and quantum physics. It is about the concept of emptiness in Buddhism.
It is a light installation. A changing color field video which is transformed from human brainwave is projected onto a mirror in the middle of the room.
As the mirror block the light coming from the projector, the light casts an eclipse shadow on the center of video projection on the wall, the shadow keeps changing from a whole circle to an ellipse form. No matter how the shape of the shadow changes, the reflection of the mirror is always a circle that pans through the whole room, as a metaphor for the inherent perfection of human nature that is beyond any dualistic thinking.
The whole circle shadow symbolize that once you enter into the emptiness of the self, the center of the vortex, the infinite genesis of spacetime happens.
There are two phases (forms) of the reflection of mirrors: one is a whole circle; and the other is the fragmented phantom form (the Holy Ghost).
These two forms cyclically pan through the whole room and transform into each other when go through the threshold caused by the spontaneous rotation of the center mirror. As a metaphor for the reincarnation of human life.
Two mirrors are installed beside the central mirror. As these three mirrors rotate spontaneously caused by the movement of the viewers, they reflect the light from each other, creating a melody of light movements in the room that resembles the celestial body dance.
There is only one projector, all the movements and transformations are achieved by the rotations of the mirrors caused by the subtle airflow in the room which emphasizes the randomness, uncertainty, and interactivity of the installation.
The whole space manifests that human existence is already perfect originally, described in Tibetan Buddhism as the "Rainbow Body" in Dzogchen practice.
