we are entering a stage of paradigm shift which stands for a fundamental revolution at a deeper and wider level. Through the interdisciplinary integration, it can explain the most fundamental assumption of the universe, life and consciousness. Human need to reach a new agreement, a new spirituality on the basis of science.
The concept of Amala-consciousness in Mahayana Buddhism is closest to the expression of the new paradigm.
Amala-vijnana means “ the ninth consciousness” in Sanskrit.
Matter and consciousness have deep-seated connection and the same source — Amala-vijinana. The boundaries of inner world and outer world can be fused by this kind of matrix. When this concept of Amala-consciousness is taken into the frame of new meta-paradigm, new social formation and new life state begin to come into being. This installation is the reflection and exploration of this new paradigm.
The transparent sodium silicate solution inside the glass ware is a metaphor of Amala-consciousness. Sodium silicate and metal salt interact with each other chemically. The cyclic growth produced by this chemical reaction makes the rebirth (of consciousness and matter) achieved. The colourful landscape in the glassware formed by chemical reaction imply our kaleidoscopic phenomenal world. As a matrix, Amala-consciousness transforms into the diversified phenomenal dimension. It gives the internal form to matter and consciousness in phenomenal dimension. However, matter and consciousness are deformalized in Amala-consciousness.
Amala-consciousness is a dynamic matrix that can only be formed by interaction with phenomenal dimension. The inspiration of this modeling comes from pyramid which is the metaphor of energy exchange between the inner worlds and the outer worlds. The shape of pyramid symbolizes the trinity of matter, consciousness and Amala-consciousness. The matrix Amala-consciousness, matter and consciousness coexist interdependently in this installation.
The white substance ( Buddha Sutras, Buddha statue, Human acupuncture model, Scholar's stone ) in the glassware represents the phenomenal dimension where ashes to ashes, and dust to dust, everything turns back to the matrix again.
What is flowing ( black ink ) in the bottom of the pyramid is Amala-consciousness, an infinite spacetime-surpassing field of information. The black fluid continuously upsurging and falling back as an entirety is visual presentation of Sunyata in Buddhism (which means everything are born out of nothing) and Quantum Fluctuation in Quantum Physics, also is the presentation of the relationship between noumenal dimension and phenomenal dimension.
