Chunlin Xia

This unaltered photograph captures a disquieting moment from 2023, viewed through the frame of my home window. The familiar view of my neighborhood was transformed, submerged in an unnatural, pervasive orange-yellow light by smoke. This image is a direct record of that phenomenon, where the boundary between the mundane and the apocalyptic dissolved. I am documenting a profound feeling of alienation— our world can become unfamiliar in an instant.
